APIDC staffs a toll-free information Line and provides informal guidance on the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and provides a bridge between the API community and the information they need.

Technical Assistance: Develop a resource referral system

  • We serve as a clearinghouse of Asian and Pacific Islander disability- related and other general Technical Assistance resources.
  • Establish networking relationships with these organizations to share information and identify common issues and barriers with the ultimate goal of changing attitudes regarding disabilities;
  • Develop a dialogue with health providers to discuss accessibility issues for people with disabilities and the tendency of the medical community to treat people with disabilities in the archaic “medical model” rather than the self-determination, independent living model.
